Searching for This Year’s Top 10 WEQ Winners (Hindustan Times)

The Women Entrepreneur Quest (WEQ) is an annual contest sponsored by the Anita Borg Institute India, the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST), and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). It was created to support women entrepreneurs in India and recognize their contributions, from developing innovations to founding new companies. The Top 10 winners of WEQ receive an expenses-paid trip to Silicon Valley, where they will make new connections and learn how to increase funding for their businesses.

“India ranks 70 out of 77 nations on the female entrepreneurship index,” said Geetha Kannan, Managing Director of the Anita Borg Institute India. “Many studies… indicate that we need more Indian women to be entrepreneurs. ABI India… is trying to create avenues such as the WEQ contest that will encourage women entrepreneurs in technology.”
